Carla Cantone, General Secretary of  (FERPA) was an invited guest at the Inaugural Retired Workers' Seminar North/South in February 2016 which was held in Dublin. She spoke to the meeting about the need to build "an alliance of all pensioners in Europe and to foster an ongoing discourse between generations."

The Report prepared by the Retired Workers' Committee of ICTU was presented to, and adopted by the Biennial Delegate Conference in Ennis in 2015. The General Secretary of ICTU, Patricia King, welcomed the report and spoke of her admiration for the work of the Committee.
